A collection, but what for?
A way to open the debate, to initiate a conversation for various reasons.
It all began on March 8th 2018. Designer Marie Martens was concerned about the commercial aspect of the International Women’s Rights Day (or week…). However, March 8th is not just a day to celebrate femininity, nor a celebration of the concept of women, as for the Black Friday, Christmas or Valentine’s day (for those who still believe in).
It is the occasion to question inequality between men and women. Everywhere women suffer from inequality. They are being brutalized, victimized, abused, harassed, only because they are women. It is a day to talk more about it and to keep up the fight against gender inequality. A day to raise people’s awareness regardless of generations. Nothing should be taken for granted.
March 8th is not a “Celebration of Women” or “Women’s Day”. It’s “Women’s RIGHTS Day”. And that changes EVERYTHING.
